Question for current adult perormers- Why do you still perform in 2013?

January 25, 2013 at 1:26 pm (adult, Los Angeles)

A friend of mine who also used to perform and I were recently discussing this. Back when I was in the industry the average shelf life for a performer was about 18 months. Now with so many more girls combined with less companies shooting shelf life is down to about 4 to 6 months.

They do not want to build you up to be a big star. They would rather have you be a random girl on the internet or a small name on a DVD box if you’re lucky. No, you will not be the next Sasha Grey.

You will not go onto the feature dance circuit and for 2 reasons. The first going back to the fact being that your name will never be big enough, second being that not as many clubs are doing this with the economy being bad, or they are paying less per show. Costume and travel expenses are really high. You will never make your money back.

If you start a website you will just get your content stolen and uploaded for free by the tube sites so you won’t make money there either. Either that or you fans will just watch you for free on tube sites rather than pay to join yours.

Lastly, there’s escorting which always was a taboo subject in porn. Very famous performers are now charging $200-$400 on sites like Humanaplex and Backpage and the fans know it. Do you think they will ever pay $1,200-$1,800 ever again? Then, they go and write about it on review sites to spread the word to others that used to pay that rate.

Why work in the sex industry now, weed money? It’s one thing If you are doing this and living well, but if you fuck for a living and live in a cheap motel, or at your parents house you are degrading yourself.
