Advice to pornstars being victimized by DL

December 30, 2010 at 11:48 am (adult, Heather Pink, Uncategorized)

I don’t want to use his name or post his website but if you are in the industry and he’s tormenting you, please don’t talk about it on websites or Twitter. I know it’s hard. But it’s just drawing unneeded attention to you and your family’s personal information. Go to an attorney and maybe law enforcement. Because this is done with malicious intent he can receive paperwork to make it stop.

Let me tell you my story and why it personally bothers me. Not about DL but someone else, also in Florida acting as an agent. He had found me some work in my early porn career. A few years later I had run into him at the Nightmoves Award Show in Tampa but was busy and couldn’t talk. Five minutes later, he was kicked out and accused me of having him thrown out. About a week later pictures and movies were sent to my parents. He had been known for doing this. I knew that there was a huge chance they could find out, but you are never prepared enough for when it happens emotionally. Even if they knew you assume you are dealing with adults who would not think to do this sort of thing. Be careful.

What am I supposed to do for New Years?

December 22, 2010 at 3:06 am (Heather Pink, personal, Uncategorized)

I don’t drink and I get sick for days if I even try.

I have no intrest in dating and that includes platonic dates.

Holidays are depressing me so staying home might make things worse.

I really don’t need to be in any city in particular. I want to at least try to have a good time. Unless I’m hosting something I’m not really interested in going to a club.

One thing is for sure. This has been one of the worst years in my life and I’m just glad it almost over.

Any sugestions?

Another facility of testing

December 15, 2010 at 8:14 pm (adult, Health, Los Angeles)

From “Brittney” in my comment area:

Although AIM was the lab testing leader in the adult entertainment industry, many don’t know that you can order the exact same lab test online for the same ((or cheaper)) price from anywhere in the country. JustGetTested.com offers the same Adult Industry Talent Package, which tests for HIV by PCR, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia. All you do is go online and order the test, create an account (where your results will be sent to once they are back from the lab) and print out the lab order. Then you can enter in your zip code and the website pulls up all the Lab Corp locations in your area. Just go to whatever Lab Corp collection site you choose and get your test done. Once your results are back from the lab (this usually takes between 2-3 business days), you will receive an email notifying you that your results are in. Then you just log onto your account on JustGetTested.com and your tests are there for you to use at your discretion. It is completely, 100% confidential.

You can also use the coupon code LAB4NF to receive discounts on your order, so you can get the test for an even cheaper price than AIM was offering! It is important for EVERYONE to always practice safe sex and a HUGE part of that is getting tested! JustGetTested.com offers all STD tests online, including the one required for members of the adult entertainment industry. Check it out!

Bernard Madoff son found dead

December 12, 2010 at 5:04 am (mainstream, New York, Uncategorized)

From Wall St Journal:

NEW YORK—One of Bernard Madoff’s sons was found dead Saturday of an apparent suicide, according to a law-enforcement official.

Mark Madoff, 46 years old, was found hanged in his apartment at 158 Mercer St., in Manhattan’s SoHo section by his father-in-law, according to law-enforcement officials . A family member notified police around 7:30 a.m. No suicide note was found, the officials said.

Mark Madoff’s death comes as federal prosecutors were ramping up their scrutiny of Bernard’s brother and sons, who haven’t been charged with wrongdoing. Seven people, including Madoff’s top lieutenant, Frank DiPascali, have been criminally charged.

A medical examiner arrives at the apartment building where Mark Madoff lived.

Bernard Madoff swindled a long list of investors out of billions of dollars and is serving a 150-year prison term in North Carolina.

Martin Flumenbaum of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, an attorney representing Mark Madoff and his brother, Andrew, said: “Mark Madoff took his own life today. This is a terrible and unnecessary tragedy. Mark was an innocent victim of his father’s monstrous crime who succumbed to two years of unrelenting pressure from false accusations and innuendo. We are all deeply saddened by this shocking turn of events.”

The scandal put a harsh light on members of the swindler’s family. The financier’s brother, Peter, played a prominent role in the family’s company. Mark and Andrew Madoff both worked on a trading desk at the firm, on a side of the business that wasn’t directly involved in the Ponzi scheme.

A year ago, the court-appointed trustee trying to unravel Bernard Madoff’s financial affairs sued several members of the family, including the brothers, accusing them of failing to detect the fraud while living lavish lifestyles financed with the family’s ill-gotten fortune.

The lawsuit accused Mark Madoff of using $66 million he received improperly to buy luxury homes in New York City, Nantucket and Connecticut.

This week, Irving Picard, the court-appointed trustee recovering assets for the victims, filed multiple lawsuits seeking funds from people and firms he alleged were close to the scheme or unwittingly profited at the expense of others.

In February, Mark Madoff’s wife, Stephanie Morgan, petitioned a court to change her last name, saying her family had gotten threats and was humiliated by the scandal.

Mark Madoff had one child with his current wife, Ms. Morgan, and two children with his former wife, Susan Elkin of Connecticut, according to a civil lawsuit filed this week seeking to recover money from him and his relatives.

A spokeswoman for Preet Bharara, the U.S. attorney in Manhattan, declined to comment. Mr. Bharara’s office is handling the continuing criminal investigation of the Madoff Ponzi scheme and had been scrutinizing Mark and Andrew Madoff and their uncle Peter.

Calls to Mark Madoff’s father’s attorney weren’t immediately returned Saturday. Calls to the FBI also weren’t immediately returned. Previously, spokespeople for the brothers had repeatedly denied that they had any knowledge of their father’s crimes.

When reached at her home Saturday morning, Ms. Elkin, Mark Madoff’s ex- wife, declined to discuss what happened.

Police investigators were at Mark Madoff’s apartment Saturday morning, along with officials from the medical examiner’s office, which will determine the cause of death.

Adult Industry Medical, or “AIM” shut down at Van Nuys Blvd clinic

December 12, 2010 at 3:07 am (adult, Health, Los Angeles)

Just when I thought it was safe to go back to New York for the holidays, and take a break from blogging. My flight lands, and I’m greeted by several tweets about the AIM shutdown. I went to ask if anyone knew the exact grounds, then read this comment in the comment area on Mike South’s blog (mikesouth.com)

Mike,
Did you ever consider that maybe Bobby has all the proper certification to do this. And if you dont want to go to Bobbys you can go to any laboratory draw station throu AIM’s internet testing program….They just cant draw blood at the Van Nuys location.
Sorry to break it to you Mike, but the only problem was they have AIM HEALTHCARE written on their lease,,and their lid=cense application says Adulst Industry Medical.
The two dont match, and they have 60 days to correct it. THAT IS THE ONLY REASON THEY WERE CLOSED, NOTHING ELSE.
Readit on ANV right now, and stop with your misinformation.
We all know how giddy you must be about hearing this, but better luck next time.

One of the techs at AIM is apparently running a draw station out of her house.

Mike responds to the comment:

Read it carefully Milton, AIM has been served with a cease and desist…Im not buying that name aint the same story….This is from the same guys that told me Cameron Reid was the wrong guy…..

And no matter how you look at it drawing from someones house is a violation of a LOT of health codes, business licensing codes and everything else. That move is gonna bite AIM in the ass, mark my words.

Does AHF have an agenda hell yes they do, it’s no more or less driven by their agenda than is AIMs.

HIV-positive porn actor was told: “You’re not going to make any money if you wear a condom.”

December 9, 2010 at 6:02 pm (adult, Los Angeles, Uncategorized)

From LA Times:

Porn performer Derrick Burts, 24, learned he was HIV-positive in October after getting tested for sexually transmitted diseases at a healthcare clinic in the San Fernando Valley that serves the adult film industry.

Burts’ positive test result Oct. 9 came a little more than a month after he had last tested HIV-negative at the same clinic, the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation, known as AIM. In the weeks in between, he worked on both gay and straight porn sets in California and Florida.
Burts, who performed in straight films as “Cameron Reid” and gay films as “Derek Chambers,” spoke publicly about his diagnosis for the first time Tuesday in an interview with The Times at the AIDS Healthcare Foundation offices in Hollywood. He is scheduled to speak at a 10 a.m. Wednesday news conference.
He sought help from the foundation, which has long been critical of the straight porn industry’s testing protocol and failure to require condom use, after becoming disappointed in his follow-up care at Sherman Oaks-based AIM.
Burts said he now wants to speak out to warn others that the work he was doing was “very dangerous.”
“What they tell you in porn is, ‘You’re not going to make any money if you wear a condom, you know, viewers don’t want to see that,’ ” he told The Times, “so I didn’t even know you had an option to wear a condom. I had never seen a condom on a straight set in my entire life.”
The gay and straight porn industries take different approaches to stemming the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. Gay porn producers typically require condom use, but not HIV testing. In the San Fernando Valley-based straight porn industry, regular tests are required of workers, but condom use is rare.
Burts said that after getting his test results he gave AIM clinic staff the names of about a dozen performers he had worked with in the previous weeks in both gay and straight productions in California and Florida.
AIM officials said last month that no one on their quarantine list had tested HIV-positive. It was not clear whether the list included all the performers named by Burts since he worked out of state and on gay productions.
AIM officials could not immediately be reached for comment Tuesday night. One attorney for the clinic was traveling outside the U.S., according to an e-mail from him earlier in the day.
The clinic has drawn criticism from AIDS activists and state officials who say clinic officials have failed to promptly report HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.
In 2004, a male porn star, Darren James, contracted HIV and spread the virus to three female performers before it was detected. The outbreak shut down porn production for a month.
James, who has also become a proponent of condom use on porn sets, told The Times last year that he felt he had received poor follow-up care from AIM clinic officials. He spoke about his experiences after a female performer tested HIV-positive. After her diagnosis no other cases were detected among performers and clinic officials said she had rarely worked in the industry
In recent weeks, state workplace safety officials have been considering whether to mandate condom use and additional testing for porn performers.
Last month, AIM officials said the most recent testing “affirms the efficacy of AIM Healthcare Foundation’s testing protocols, as voluntarily implemented by the adult entertainment industry,” adding that “it is regrettable but inevitable that people continue to acquire the HIV virus in their personal life.”
Burts said Tuesday that clinic officials told him they had traced his infection to another performer, who he said they described as a “known positive.”
He called AIM’s statement “completely false.” “There is no possible way. The only person I had sex with in my personal life was my girlfriend.”
His girlfriend, who accompanied him to the interview Tuesday, is also an adult film performer and was among the performers whose names he gave AIM, Burts said. She is HIV-negative, he said.
